Amy Winehouse's parents are offering a stage school scholarship.

Mitch and Janis, 56 - who lost their daughter last July - want to help a budding star attend the same performing arts school that Amy did.

Mitch, 60, said: ''Amy was a pupil at the Sylvia Young Theatre School. This is where her talent was recognised and nurtured.

''The [Amy Winehouse] Foundation would like to give a child who otherwise couldn't afford the same opportunity the chance to realise their talents.

''The scholarship is such great news for us after all the recent ups and downs.

''Nothing will ever make up for our loss, but this is a wonderful thing for us to be able to do. The scholarship is something that we are deeply, deeply proud to be offering. It will keep Amy's name alive in the best possible way.''

The 'Back to Black' singer secured herself a place at the prestigious college when she was just 13-years-old, and founder Sylvia says she couldn't think of a better way to honour her talent.

In an interview with The Sun newspaper - which is supporting the scheme - she said: ''We loved Amy and we are thrilled and honoured the Amy Winehouse Foundation is setting up this scholarship in her name.

''It would be wonderful to find another Amy but there was only one of her. We would be happy to find a singer, dancer or actor who has a special talent.''
