Amy Adams - Amy Adams Stage Debut, 'Into The Woods' Is A Big Surprise

The Stage review from Entertainment Weekly is full of praise for the show, which "makes use of every nearby treetop in a madly inventive, crazy-picture-book set designed by John Lee Beatty and Soutra Gilmour." Much of the attention for the evening was for Amy, though, who made her stage debut in this unique setting. The Hollywood Reporter were highly impressed with her performance, saying "Adams, who seems to have no end to her range, is beautifully touching in her character's despair, and reveals impressive pipes on such numbers as "Moments in the Woods" and "It Takes Two."

The Washington Post was not so easily impressed, however, and described her acting skills as "merely pleasant as the Baker's Wife, when what's required is something like the mixture of heart and ironic detachment displayed in the original Broadway production by Tony-winning Joanna Gleason." For an actress best known for her screen performances, though, this is a good show from Adams, for such a high profile stage debut
