American Idol - American Idol's Casey Abrams Battles Illness To Perform
American Idol's twelve finalists performed songs from their birth years during last night's two-hour special.
American Idol finalists Casey Abrams and Pia Toscano were heavily praised for their performances on yesterday's American Idol, reports the Press Association.Abrams, who missed last week's show after being hospitalised with ulcerative colitis, returned to perform Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'. Despite his illness, Casey was lauded by the judging panel for his efforts, with Randy Jackson said, "You're putting art first then commerce". Toscano, who sang the 1988 Whitney Houston hit 'Where Do Broken Hearts Go', maintained her tag as this year's favourite, with Steven Tyler remarking, "You are why this show is called American Idol". Elsewhere on the night, the quirky rocker Paul Mcdonald sang Elton John's 'I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues' and 16-year-old Lauren Alaina sang 'I'm The Only One' by Melissa Etheridge.
Another of the American Idol finalists will be eliminated on tonight's show (17th March 2011). Last week, Ashthon Jones failed to get the support of the public after singing Diana Ross' hit 'When You Tell Me That You Love Me'.
