'American Idol' Says Goodbye To Rocker Paul Mcdonald
Paul McDonald was eliminated from 'American Idol' last night (14.04.11).
The rocker was the first male in the top 13 to be booted off this season of the US reality talent show, after his rendition of Bob Seger's 'Old Time Rock And Roll' failed to impress viewers.
However, the 26-year-old Nashville native took the bad news graciously, nodding and saying, "It's ok, it's ok" when host Ryan Seacrest announced his departure.
He then happily performed Rod Stewart's 'Maggie Mae' at the request of panelist Jennifer Lopez.
Originally one of the judges' favourites, he was voted into the bottom two with Haley Reinhart by the public.
However, Haley was saved, breaking the cycle of four female eliminations in a row.
Last night's show - which drew in an impressive 53 million votes in total - also featured a performance from past winner Kelly Clarkson and country singer Jason Aldean, singing their platinum-selling duet 'Don't You Want to Stay', as well an appearance from Rihanna, who sang 'California King Bad'.
