American Idol Recap: Joshua Ledet Steals The Show With 'Runaway Baby'

Last night's American Idol (April 11, 2012) saw Joshua Ledet wowing the judges with an impressive performance of Bruno Mars' 'Runaway Baby,' complete with a horn section and go-go dancer for accompaniment. Ledet was rewarded with high praise from the judges, with Randy Jackson telling him it was "another unbelievable performance" and Steven Tyler grinning at him and telling him "you can sell a song like a work of art.

Today's report from New York Daily News suggests that of last week's survivors from the bottom three - Elise Testone and Hollie Cavanagh - Elise may have done the best job of convincing Steven, Randy and Jennifer that she deserves to stay in the contest. Cavanagh's rendition of Pink's 'Perfect' "evaded perfection," though Randy did at least acknowledge that it was a better performance than she gave the previous week. Jessica Sanchez impressed once more with a powerful rendition of Jazmine Sullivan's 'Stuttering.'

After the initial performances were over, the finalists then paired up to sing duets. Joshua Ledet stood out once more, with his performance of Kelly Clarkson's 'Stronger' with Jessica Sanchez; clearly two of the competition's strongest title contenders. Elise Testone and Philip Philips teamed up for a version of Gotye's hit 'Somebody That I Used To Know' whilst Skylar Laine and Colton Dixon tackled Jason Aldean's 'Don't You Wanna Stay.' Tonight, the results of the viewer voting will be announced and those with the least votes will have to sing for their survival once more.
