American Idol: J'lo Storms The Stage To Save Jessica Sanchez
On last night's American Idol results show (April 12, 2012), the judges were stunned when the bottom three was revealed. So much so, that Jennifer Lopez interrupted Jessica Sanchez's performance before she could even finish to announce that the judges intended to keep her in the contest. They were equally shocked to learn that Joshua Ledet was also in the bottom three, after he received a standing ovation for his performance of Bruno Mars' 'Runaway Baby' the night before.
Sanchez had hardly sung a few bars of her version of Deborah Cox's 'Nobody's Supposed to Be Here' before Lopez stormed the stage, with her fellow judges in tow. "Give me the mic," she said to Jessica, who was looking more than a little confused. "This is crazy. Go sit down," she told Sanchez. Ryan Seacrest then stepped in. "This is a first" he said, "let me break this down. The judges have one save this season, that they've gotta use before Top 5." Randy announced "We are saving Jessica without any doubt. This girl is one of the best singers in America. Ever." Jennifer gave Jessica a hug, as Ryan asked her how she felt about being in the bottom three. "I don't expect anything, I just do what I do," she explained.
So, Elise, Joshua and Jessica all go through to the next round and Jessica closed the show with a full version of the song that she should have been singing for survival, safe in the knowledge that she'd be back again for the following week's contest.
