American Idol: Jeremy Rosado Ejected, Mary J Blige Rescues Elise Testone
Jeremy Rosado was shown the door on last night's episode of American Idol (March 8, 2012), with Elise Testone narrowly avoiding eviction, after her less-than impressive Whitney Houston rendition the previous night. In the results show, none of the judges seemed too surprised that Rosado and Testone were in the bottom two, but it was Rosado that eventually had to go.
Elise had received some stellar advice from the R&B star Mary J Blige to help her on her way. Blige told her "your voice is so dope that if you crash and burn, it's gonna be so unfair, because you have it." Testone looked out of her depth in rehearsal and her performance - although she appeared to be enjoying it - didn't quite hit the mark. Her attempts to make the song her own fell between the cracks, in Jennifer Lopez's view, and Randy Jackson said it wasn't her greatest performance. Jeremy Rosado had performed a cover of Stevie Wonder's Ribbon in the Sky. He'd been taken through to the live rounds as a wild card, but he clearly hadn't connected with the voting public. Rosado was gracious in defeat, telling the judges "Thank you guys for everything."
A story from the Daily Mail also drew attention to Jennifer Lopez's daring choice of outfit. Not long after the dust had settled on her rumoured 'nip-slip' wardrobe malfunction, Lopez bravely opted for yet another breast-baring garment for last night's results show. The live rounds of American Idol will continue next week, with the final 12 contestants.
