Amber Portwood In Failed Suicide Attempt
AMBER PORTWOOD, the 21-year-old star of the Mtv series 'Teen Mom', attempted to commit suicide on Tuesday morning (14th June 2011), according to US Weekly. Portwood is currently being evaluated at St John's Hospital in Indiana where her on-off boyfriend Gary Shirley briefly visited yesterday.
Although further details are currently unavailable, police in Anderson, Indiana, confirmed Portwood attempted to take her own life in the incident. A representative for Mtv said, "Our understanding is that Amber has been admitted to a local hospital, but we have not been able to confirm the accuracy of any reports being circulated and are waiting for further details. Our thoughts are with her and we hope to hear more soon". Speaking on his Twitter page, Amber's boyfriend remarked, "Due to recent events, it was best that Amber delete her Twitter", adding, "Appreciate all those who continue to support". The failed suicide attempt caps a tumultuous few months for the 'Teen Mom' star, who was charged with two felony counts of domestic battery and one count of neglect of a dependent in December 2010.
'Teen Mom' was an American reality series that chronicled the lives of four teenage girls during their first year of motherhood. AMBER PORTWOOD dropped out of high school on discovering she was pregnant but often spoke of her dream of opening her own beauty salon.
