Amanda Seyfried Signs On To Play Linda Lovelace
'Lovelace' will follow the story of the adult film star, best known for her 1972 flick 'Deep Throat', who is used and abused by the porn industry at the behest of her husband Chuck Traynor. James Franco had been rumoured to play the abusive pornographer, but the speculation has since cooled, with 'An Education' star Peter Sarsgaard likely to be cast instead. The movie is based on the book 'The Complete Linda Lovelace' by Eric Danville, and will be produced by Howl's Rob Epstein and Jeff Friedman. Hollywood star Kate Hudson was initially offered the lead, but appears to be focusing on raising her newly born son with fiance Matt Bellamy. Seyfried had a recurring role in the television series Veronica Mars between 2004 and 2006, but audiences will be more familiar with her recent movies roles in 'Mamma Mia!', 'Dear John' and 'Red Riding Hood'.
The Seyfried movie is one of two competing Lovelace projects current underway. The writer-director Matthew Wilder is working on 'Ordeal', based on Linda's autobiography, and set to star MALIN AKERMAN.
