Amanda Peet Returns After 'Studio 60' Disappointment
Since the axing, Peet has turned to the movie world and starred in '2012' and 'Gulliver's Travels', though she has been lured back to television for new comedy series 'Bent', from the Scrubs writer Tad Quill. Amanda plays Alex Meyers, a recently divorced lawyer whose laid back attitude to life is challenged by her active friend Pete. Speaking to CNN about her return to television, Peet hinted at the lack of opportunities in Hollywood for woman of her age, saying, "It's hard to discern what's what, since I'm now a 40-year-old woman. Am I over the hill at the same time there's a recession? It's hard to decide what's what. There aren't many roles that are interesting if you're a 40-year-old woman, unless you're Julia Roberts or Cate Blanchett". Looking back on the cancellation of Studio 60, Peet pondered, "I think it was too expensive and there was too much anticipation. I guess all together we seemed like this arrogant monolith, but individually, none of us felt very arrogant".
Though making her film and television debuts in the mid1990's, Amanda Peet first rose to wider recognition after starring in the 2000 comedy movie The Whole Nine Yards, with BRUCE WILLIS.| Comment on this article |
