Amanda Bynes Enters Not Guilty Plea In Dui Case
The Hairspray star, 26, was taken into custody in April after accidentally driving into a police car in West Hollywood.
She denied the allegations, insisting she couldn't have been driving under the influence as she doesn't drink alcohol, and on Wednesday (06Jun12), her lawyer entered the plea in court on her behalf.
Prosecutors are seeking a sentencing enhancement because Bynes reportedly refused to take either a breathalyzer or a blood test at the scene, and, if convicted, she faces up to six months behind bars.
A judge has set a pretrial court date for 18 July (12), reports Tmz.com.
Bynes has even reached out to U.S. President Barack Obama to intervene in the case and help to clear her name. In a post on her Twitter.com page on Tuesday (05Jun12), she wrote, "Hey Barack Obama... I don't drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don't hit and run. The end."
