Allen Plans Shop Venture During Hiatus
LILY ALLEN has confirmed she will take a two-year hiatus from making music - and wants to launch an upmarket clothes rental store during the break.
The Smile singer announced on Wednesday (02Dec09) that she will walk away from performing and recording after her huge show with British rapper Dizzee Rascal at London's O2 Arena next March (10).
She will refuse to tour or make any records for up to two years - and will spend the time setting up a record label and managing a designer clothes rental shop with her sister Rebecca.
Allen tells the U.K.'s BBC Radio 1, "My last gig is at the moment my Dizzee Rascal concert at the O2 in March. That's the last thing I have got planned, and after that I'm planning on taking a year or two off from recording and performing music.
"I'm just going to concentrate on doing more behind-the-scenes stuff. I'm setting up a record label and I am doing a shop with my sister as well... It's about making fashion democratic, that's the idea behind it - getting really, really nice clothes but letting people rent them for affordable prices so they can go out and feel like a million dollars and it won't cost them a million dollars. That's the idea. It's going to be called Lucy In Disguise."
