Allen Lashes Out At The British Press
LILY ALLEN has lashed out at the British press - accusing reporters in her native country of deliberately running negative stories about her because she refuses to co-operate with them.
The Smile hitmaker is adamant most of the stories about her in the media portray her in an unflattering light.
And the 23-year-old puts it down to her lack of willingness to "play the game" with the press.
She tells Glamour magazine, "I'm not one of those people who say, 'I couldn't have done it without you.' I'm like, 'F**k off!' And they get incensed. I don't want to be your friend. You're going to write about me. They come up and talk to you at events and the next day you re-read it and it's like, 'You f**king c**t!' Because I don't play the game, like having my publicist ring up (the newspapers) and say I'm seeing this guy, get a photo of us. The thought of doing that makes me physically ill."
And Allen compares her relationship with the media - to beginning a new romance, adding, "If you keep them at an arm's length, they want you. And the British press are like that with me because I say, 'No thank you.'"
