Alice Cooper Inducted Into Hall Of Fame

Alice Cooper was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during a ceremony at New York's Wardorf Astoria Hotel last night (15th March 2011).

Alice Cooper, the American rock singer was honoured alongside Tom Waits, Neil Diamond and Darlene Love at the star-studded ceremony, reports the Los Angeles Times.Cooper performed at the event with a fake-blood splattered shirt, typical heavy eye makeup and a live snake writhing around his neck. After a rendition of his 1972 anthem 'School's Out', the 63-year-old told the crowd, "We have always been a hard rock band, we just wanted to decorate it a little bit differently", however, he suggested that 'shock rock' is a thing of the past, adding, "I don't think you can shock an audience anymore". Alice and his band were introduced by the American musician Rob Zombie, who compared them to "a murderous gang of drag queens". Later in the evening, Neil Diamond performed his crowd-pleasing hit 'Sweet Caroline' as well as 'Cherry, Cherry'.

It was reported last year that Alice Cooper had begun work on his new album 'Welcome 2 My Nightmare', the sequel to the original 'Welcome To My Nightmare'. The record is expected to hit shelves later this year.
