Thomas donned a pair of dark sunglasses and attempted to avoid photographers who were ready to snap the bride-to-be and her huge diamond rock. Baldwin, 54, proposed this weekend in Long Island, New York, with his representative telling US Weekly magazine, "'Yes, it's true! Alec proposed to Hilaria this weekend and we're all excited for the newly engaged couple. Alec's birthday is tomorrow. Great way to celebrate!". The pair have been dating for almost a year and first appeared in public together at several bashes in May 2011, according to the UK's Daily Mail. The Hollywood actor was famously married to the actress Kim Basinger, but the pair divorced in 2002 after nine years of marriage - they later became embroiled in a bitter custody battle over their daughter Ireland, 16.

Though little is known for Baldwin's fiancee, it is understood she was born in Spain but grew up in Boston before studying dance and history at New York University. She later became a yoga instructor in the city.
