So, Is Alec Baldwin A Homophobe? Actor's Response Helps His Defence But Contradicts His Twitter Statement
The actor has gone on the defence after a homophobic Twitter rant, but still might be homophobic
When he hit back at a reporter that alleged his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, was Tweeting during the funeral of James Gandolfini, Alec Baldwin could have done with choosing his words a little better when he referred to a Daily Mail reporter as “toxic little queen” and wrote on his now deleted Twitter page; “[I'd] put my foot up your f---ing ass, George Stark, but I'm sure you'd dig it too much."
As you would expect, this has caused quite the backlash against Baldwin and he was forced to defend himself, and although he seemed to back himself up in his defence statement, it doesn't excuse his initial comment, which was a clear reference to Stark's sexuality.
Alec attended the funeral of Gandolfini on Thursday (June 27)
Both Baldwin and his wife vehemently denied that she was Tweeting during the ceremony for the late Sopranos star, but Baldwin took a rather more venomous approach to his response. To vouch for himself as a decent fellow, the actor described his connotations of the word 'queen' saying that it has nothing to do a person's sexuality (taking the South Park approach). But wait, didn't he also say “[I'd] put my foot up your ...ass, ...but I'm sure you'd dig it too much?"
Both Alec and Hilaria claim she wasn't Tweeting
Baldwin gave a statement to GLAAD on Friday (June 28) in which he said, among other things; "My ill-advised attack on George Stark of the Daily Mail had absolutely nothing to do with issues of anyone's sexual orientation. My anger was directed at Mr. Stark for blatantly lying and disseminating libelous information about my wife and her conduct at our friend's funeral service. As someone who fights against homophobia, I apologize."
It seems sincere enough, and we don't want to be accusing Baldwin of being anything he isn't, but there is still a nagging bit of doubt over the apology. Maybe he just pulled a Paula Deen?
So, is Baldwin a bigot?
