Alber Elbaz No Celebrity Designer Fan
Alber Elbaz is not a fan of celebrity fashion lines.
The Lanvin designer claims collections made by pop stars and models do not work well as they have no intimate knowledge of fashion.
He said: "I feel that some celebrities think that because they are famous, they can do fashion. Imagine if I want to be now a dancer. Trust me, I can't. I can't jump. I can't even limp from one point to another. I feel that there is this kind of confusion."
The Moroccan-born Israeli fashionista also hits out at critics of his industry who claim they are the reason for models being anorexic, and says it is just a reflection of women worldwide who want to be thin.
He told Style.com: "We are being accused that some models are anorexic, but we as fashion designers cannot be blamed, because you know, when I talk to women around the world, rich and poor and young and old and intellectual and not, what they want to be is skinny.
"You ask them, 'What is your dream?' It's to be skinny. That's all they want."
Elbaz has been the artistic director of Lanvin since 2001 and has picked up a number of celebrity fans in his career including Kate Moss and Nicole Kidman.
