Alba: 'Arizona Immigration Law Is Racist And Foolish'

Jessica Alba has slammed the new Arizona state immigration rules, branding the legislation "a very racist, foolish law".

The Sin City star was part of an all-star public service announcement (PSA) taking a stand against the law, which gives Arizona police new powers to arrest and detain anyone suspected of being an illegal immigrant.

And Alba insists she'll carry on fighting the regulation as it's an issue she and Robert Rodriguez, her MAChete director, feel strongly about.

She tells Britain's Daily Record, "It's always been a relevant issue, for me and for Robert, because we grew up with that reality and it just happened to be that a state did something really, really foolish and passed a very racist, foolish law... There's no way we can change it if we all just sit back and do nothing, so it's about engaging and getting people to stand up for their rights."

Jessica, I am a 5 generation U.S.Hispanic. My family was living in Texas when the border crossed over from Mexico to U.S. Territory, they stayed in Texas, because they had a ranch there. I am SOOOOO PROUD that you are sticking to what you believe. I also think the law will lead to racial profiling to Latinos who are LEGAL and living in the U.S. everyone, like the post of the 'hispanic' family who is against illegals, keeps screaming, it's about Illegals. It's about Latinos being racial profiled! I stand with you, Eva Longoria, Rosario Dawson, Salma Hayek, Benjamen Bratt and many other Latino actors who are against this racist law.

Please come back and comment when you're fully educated, mmmkay thanks. Until then, stick to complaining to reporters about why Hollywood doesn't take you seriously.

I'm disappointed in Jessica's viewpoint but not surprised. She is like so many other people who fail to see the reality of what is going on and falls back on Racism as the almighty blame. "it just happened to be that a state did something really, really foolish and passed a very racist, foolish law" - God forbid us to close our borders to illegal immigrants who cross our borders and take up the jobs, health benefits, unemployment benefits and safety to LEGAL CITIZENS of this Country, costing taxpayers millions each year! ..." so it's about engaging and getting people to stand up for their rights." - Ummm (the US Citizens) People are standing up for their Rights by trying to send back those who are here illegally! I have a few dollars in my pocket.... Maybe I should send her one so she may buy a clue!!!

Jessica, we are a hispanic family, but we are commpletly against being here illegally. How can you support that, and say its Racist? We all work hard here as I am sure you do to, my husband is a Journeyman Painter and a good painter at that, 25 years in the business, he should be making at least $25-30 per hour and he makes $15 right now because illegial immigrants will do it for less than that. They take our jobs and leave the people who deserve to make more, jobless or in poverty. I agree with Arizona and I wish California would do the same. If you think it is ok then maybe you should pay us the money we deserve since you make so much and we all know your job is safe because illigial immigrants can't take your job! Supid!
