Alan Mcgee - Alan Mcgee Found Sony Warehouse Blaze 'Funny'

07 September 2011
Former music mogul Alan Mcgee has branded a fire that destroyed a Sony record stock warehouse "funny" because it meant a lot of bad music was ruined.

The Sony Dadc building in Enfield, north London was set on fire last month (Aug11) by thugs causing chaos across the British capital during widespread violence and looting.

Albums by artists including Adele and Arctic Monkeys were wiped out in the blaze, but Creation Records founder MCGee is pleased some of the discs went up in smoke, because it meant a lot of "s**t" music was destroyed.

He says, "I read that the Sony Pias Building burnt down. I'm probably the only person who thought that was funny. I call that a result. Got rid of all the s**t music. And you get paid for it, the stuff you couldn't sell."
