Alan Carr Quits Radio 2 Show To 'Reclaim' Weekends
Carr - who also signalled his intention to work on his Channel 4 show 'Chatty Man' - said, "I've loved every minute of it but it's time to reclaim my weekends. I wish Radio 2 every success but I'll listen from my home in the future instead". The star's show 'Going Out with Alan Carr' (with co-host Melanie Sykes) is one of Radio 2's most popular weekend shows, though it is unclear whether Sykes will stay on. The station's head of programmes Lewis Carnie said, "We'd like to thank Alan for his contribution over the past three years.Alan and his co-presenter, Mel Sykes, have made a terrific contribution to Saturday evenings on Radio 2.We'll be announcing plans for a new Saturday evening programme shortly".
Carr was inspired to become a comedian after moving to Manchester in his 20's. He made his breakthrough in 2001, winning the City Life 'Best Newcomer of the Year' and the Bbc's New Comedy Award. He rose to national fame while hosting the Friday Night Project with Justin Lee Collins, and has since established himself as one of Britain's most successful comedians.| Comment on this article |
