Arab Strap - Aidan Moffat And Bill Wells Triumph At Scottish Album Of The Year Awards
Former Arab Strap rocker Aidan Moffat and composer Bill Wells triumphed at the Scottish Album of the Year (Say) Awards on Tuesday night (19Jun12).
The pair walked away with the accolade, billed as the Scottish version of the U.K.'s prestigious Mercury Prize, and were also handed $32,000 (£20,000) for their collaboration Everything's Getting Older.
The Scottish Music Industry Association (Smia) announced the shortlist, which included rockers Mogwai and King Creosote & Jon Hopkins, last month (May12).
The result was announced at a ceremony in Glasgow Film City, Scotland, with Moffat saying, "It's fantastic. I still can't quite believe it. Obviously we're very, very happy. It was a great shortlist. The Scottish Album of the Year Award is all about is introducing people to a wide variety of different types music - the award is very, very important from an industry point of view too and we hope there are many more of them."
Wells adds, "We're extremely chuffed (happy), it's been a fantastic night and it's a tremendous honour."
