Christina Aguilera - Aguilera 'Paid Tribute' To Madonna In New Promo

CHRISTINA AGUILERA channelled MADONNA throughout her new promo for NOT MYSELF TONIGHT - insisting she was purposefully "paying tribute" to the Queen of Pop.

The Dirrty singer came under fire when the video for her comeback track aired in March (10), with many fans accusing Aguilera of copying the Material Girl's earlier work.

But the singer insists she made several deliberate references to Madonna in the raunchy footage, which shows her writhing around in latex and holding a monocle - like scenes from the pop superstar's Human Nature and Express Yourself videos.

Aguilera says, "One of my favourite videos ever is Express Yourself by Madonna which came across as really strong and empowering which I always try to incorporate through my expression of sexuality.

"I love the direct reference I made to Madonna with the eye glass moment and the smoke and stairs. I was paying tribute to a very strong woman who has paved the way before."
