Aerosmith - Aerosmith Bassist Fears Tyler Has Taken On Too Much
Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton fears frontman Steven Tyler has taken on too many responsibilities as he attempts to balance his new American Idol judging gig with the band's workload.
Aerosmith is expected to record a new album later this year (11) but Hamilton is concerned the group has taken a backseat to Tyler's obligations on the hit U.S. TV talent show.
Hamilton tells RockAaa.com, "Steven's been very emphatic in saying that the way his time is arranged on the show leaves room to work on a record. He's been taking great pains to remind everybody of that, so hopefully that's the way it will come out."
But Hamilton isn't convinced Tyler will be able to juggle the various tasks efficiently.
He continues, "There's a lot of not knowing what's going to happen, but that's how it's always been for us... Steven is an incredible I-can-do-anything kind of guy. But he's taken a big bite, and I'm looking forward to seeing him chew it."
Tyler, who briefly quit Aerosmith to conquer a recurring drug habit, announced in January (11) that he would rejoin the group in the studio to begin working on new material.
Aerosmith's last album, Honkin' on Bobo, was released in 2004.
