Michael Jackson - Aeg Live Boss: 'Michael Jackson's Spirit Absolved Dr. Conrad Murray'
The ongoing trial into the wrongful death of Michael Jackson took a bizarre turn on Tuesday (11Jun13) as the boss of AEG Live testified about talks a medium friend allegedly held with the pop star's ghost.
The superstar's mother, Katherine Jackson, and his three children launched legal action against AEG Live bosses over claims they were responsible for his death by hiring Dr. Conrad Murray, the medic who was convicted of administering the fatal drug dose which killed Jackson on 25 June, 2009.
The family has also accused company executives of ignoring key signs the singer was seriously ill as he prepared to embark on his This Is It residency in London weeks before his death.
However, Ceo of AEG Live Randy Phillips claims that his friend Brenda Richie, Lionel Richie's ex-wife, spoke to Jackson's spirit and the spectre allegedly admitted he "accidentally killed himself" and further absolved Dr. Murray of any wrongdoing.
Phillips told jurors at Los Angeles County Superior Court, "Brenda called me to tell me that she was in communications with Michael either through a medium or directly. She said Michael told her that it wasn't Dr Murray's fault, that he had accidentally killed himself."
Presiding Judge Yvette Palazuelos allowed Phillips' bizarre explanation to stand, even though many in the courtroom burst into laughter upon hearing his testimony, according to the New York Post.
The trial is due to continue for three months.
