Adele Scores Biggest Grammys Boost In Awards' History

Following her stellar performance of 'Rolling in the Deep' at the televised Grammy awards, Adele has experienced the biggest ever leap in sales as a result of Grammys success. The British singer saw an impressive 207% sales increase on the pre-Grammys week, according to the New York Daily News. That's a total of 730,000 albums shifted in just seven days. This marks the largest boost in sales for a single artist in the Grammy awards' 54-year history. The previous record holder was Norah Jones, who shifted 621,000 copies of album 'Come Away With Me' in 2003, after winning Album of the Year.

The second biggest post-Grammys increase has gone to The Civil Wars, who experienced a 178% increase in sales. The country-folk duo, who have recently duetted on the track 'Safe and Sound' with Taylor Swift, jumped from 39 to number 8 on the Billboard chart, having sold 35,600 copies of their debut album, Barton Hollow. And Dave Grohl's Foo Fighters saw a hike of 134%, propelling them from number 55 to number 19 on the US albums chart.

This isn't the only record that Adele has broken since her feted Grammy appearance: Her album, 21, has now retained its position at the top of the US album chart for 21 consecutive weeks. The Londoner has finally beaten the record set by Whitney Houston's soundtrack album The Bodyguard, released in 1992.
