Adele - Adele named Most Played at Independent Music Awards

Adele was crowned the Most Played Independent Act at the AIM Independent Music Awards last night (29.10.12).

The 'Someone Like You' hitmaker did not attend the ceremony - having just given birth to her first child - but was awarded the prize in her absence, while The Prodigy were named Best Live Act.

Newcomers Alt-J were named Independent Breakthrough of the Year, while rapper Wiley took home the Genre Spotlight Award for his ninth album, 'Evolve or be Extinct'. The event was held at the Brewery in Clerkenwell, London, and hosted by Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens.

Enter Shikari - the most nominated act of the night - won the Independent Album of the Year prize, beating off both Alabama Shakes and Liars for their third album 'A Flash Flood of Colour'.

Of the 15 awards given, 11 were voted for by an expert panel of judges, one was decided by airplay statistics and three were voted by the public.

First Aid Kit's 'The Lion's Roar' was named the Best Difficult Second Album.

Live performances on the evening included Frankie and the Heartstrings, Big Deal and Land Observations.
