Adele Makes It 22 Weeks On Top In The U.s.
It's now the longest-running number one on the Billboard 200 since Prince's Purple Rain release reigned for 24 weeks in the mid 1980s.
The album has sold over 7.6 million copies in the U.S. alone.
Meanwhile, the album is expected to claim a 23rd week at the top of the U.K. charts on Sunday (04Mar12) - and if it does, Adele will pass Dire Straits and David Bowie's record of 22 weeks on top.
Back to the U.S. charts and Whitney Houston's compilation Whitney: the Greatest Hits stays put at two - four places higher than the late superstar's The Bodyguard soundtrack, which spent 21 weeks at number one in 1992 and 1993, and seven places above the tragic singer's Whitney Houston album.
Rounding out the new top three is indie rockers Fun, who debut at three with Some Nights.
