Adele - Adele 'Devastated' Over U.s. Tour Cancellation

British soul singer Adele found it "devastating" to scrap her U.S. tour dates after suffering a severe bout of laryngitis, but insists she couldn't risk permanently damaging her famous voice by battling on.
The Rolling in The Deep hitmaker was midway through her North American trek last month (May11) when she was diagnosed with laryngitis. She postponed the remainder of her shows on doctors' orders and returned home to Britain to recuperate.
Adele has now spoken out to assure fans she's recovering well from her health scare and is eager to return to the stage.
In a post on her website, she writes, "As I'm sure most of you know I had to cancel over half of my U.S. tour a couple (of) weeks back. It was a devastating decision to make, but I really had no choice. I had to give my voice 2 weeks rest or risk permanent damage. I'm so so sorry.
"We are in the middle of rescheduling it all... Once all the new dates are in place I'll let you know straight away! I was having the best time ever on tour, I enjoyed the shows so much and met so many amazing people and got to play with the best artists I've ever played alongside with (sic), and I really am gutted to be back (in the U.K.) before it's finished."
She adds, "I've had a check up and I'm on the mend, I still need to take it easy and rest but things are looking up. I got better before and I'm getting better this time, and I will do everything I can to make sure nothing like this happens again!"
Signing off from the post, Adele reveals to fans she's set to perform again early next month (Jul11): "I'm gonna be on stage in London in just under 2 weeks but it's a surprise I think!?"
It was revealed earlier this week (begs20Jun11) that Adele will headline London's iTunes Festival on 7 July (11).
