Adele Closes In On The Bodyguard's Billboard Record
With just three weeks to go until she equals that impressive record, industry insiders are speculating over whether or not the current crop of new releases will pack enough punch to knock Adele off of her album chart throne. A list of those considered strong enough to try includes Tim Mcgraw's Emotional Traffic, Celtic Woman's Believe and Kellie Pickler's 100 Proof. A compilation of Grammy nominees has also been released and is expected to do well. In the singles charts, Adele's 'Set Fire To The Rain' slipped from number one to number two, with David Guetta's 'Turn Me On' (featuring Nicki Minaj) taking the number one slot and Kelly Clarkson at number three with 'Stronger.'
Adele is expected to perform at the Grammy Awards this year, ending a live drought due to health issues. She has been nominated in six awards, with her producers Paul Epworth and Ryan Tedder also nominated for their work on her tracks. The album 21 won 11 awards at the 2011 Billboard Year- End Chart Awards so is expected to perform well at the Grammys, which take place on February 12, 2012.
