Adele And Cyrus Cover Dylan Classics For Amnesty Compilation

Adele, Miley Cyrus, Maroon 5 and KE$HA have recorded covers of classic Bob Dylan songs to raise money for Amnesty International.

Lenny Kravitz, Elvis Costello, Ziggy Marley and Tom Morello have also contributed tracks to the Chimes of Freedom compilation to mark the 50th anniversary of the human rights organisation.

The tunes on the 75-song set are either new or previously unreleased, with the exception of Dylan's title track, and it will be released in January (12), with all proceeds benefiting Amnesty International.

The highlights include Cyrus' rendition of You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go, My Morning Jacket's version of You’re A Big Girl Now, Sting's cover of Girl from the North Country, Make You Feel My Love by Adele and Ring Them Bells by Natasha Bedingfield.

Billy Bragg, who tackles Lay Down Your Weary Tune on the compilation, acknowledges the eclectic mix of the album, stating, "It's not everyday that you find yourself sandwiched between Miley Cyrus and Elvis Costello."

Amnesty International's Manager of Music Relations, Karen Scott, says, "Bob Dylan's music endures because he so brilliantly captures our heartbreak, our joy, our frailty, our confusion, our courage and our struggles.

"His words convey a depth of meaning that few artists can equal, inspiring us and always moving ahead of our expectations. We at Amnesty International are deeply grateful to this legendary musician and to all of the artists who have contributed to this project."
