Adam Yauch - Adam Yauch's Will Forbids His Music To Be Used In Adverts

The will of Adam Yauch has revealed that the deeply missed former Beastie Boys member has forbidden his music or image being used in any form of advertising.
The will, filed at Manhattan Surrogate court in New York earlier this week, states: "In no event may [his] image or name or any music or any artistic property created by [him] be used for advertising purposes." Yauch, or Mca as he was known on stage, also leaves his $6.4m estate to his widow, Dechen Yauch, and their 13-year old daughter. It also gives his wife the right to sell and manage his artistic property as the executor of the estate. According to Rolling Stone, who have seen a copy of the will, the part reading "any music or any artistic property" was hand written. This was probably done to protect the pioneering hip-hop group's music from landing in the wrong hands and being exploited now that Mca is dead.
The always politically active group have always stood for artistic rights and freedom and earlier this week the remaining members of the Beastie Boys, Adam Horovitz and Mike Diamond, took legal action against US energy drink company Monster over allegations of copyright infringement. Yauch died of cancer on May 4th aged 47, following a four year battle with the disease.
