Adam Horovitz 'Totally Numb' Over Adam Yauch's Death
The rapper, known as Mca, died on 4 May (12) at the age of 47 following a three-year battle with cancer after doctors discovered a tumour in his salivary gland in 2009.
Horovitz, dubbed Ad-Rock, thanked fans for their support in the wake of Yauch's death but admitted, "As you can imagine, s**t is just fkd (f**ked) up right now."
He's now gone public with his feelings in a new Rolling Stone magazine interview, which was conducted just 10 days after Yauch's passing.
Speaking about the cancer diagnosis, Horovitz revealed, "He said, 'I'm gonna be OK.' He's been right about most s**t so far. So I believe him. You would get swept up in his excitement and positivity. We recorded a few months ago. It wasn't any different from before. We spent more time making fart jokes and ordering food, which was true to form. That's why it always took so long for us to put records out.
"I don't believe Adam was afraid. Bummed out, yeah. But I can't think when I ever saw him afraid. We got jumped (mugged) in Brooklyn one time, so we've been afraid in that sense. But, man, he hadn't been afraid in a long time. That gives me peace."
And detailing his grief, Horovitz adds, "I'm totally numb. My wife is like, 'I want to make sure you're getting it out.' But then I'm walking the dog and I'll start crying on the street. It's pretty f**king crazy."
