Actress Tamara Tunie Falls Victim To $1 Million Theft

Tamara Tunie, the American actress who plays medical examiner Melinda Warner on crime series 'Law and Order: Special Victims Unit', has fallen victim to a real life $1 million theft after her accountant pleaded guilty to stealing from her to fund his own entertainment ventures.
According to the Associated Press, Mr Joseph Cilibrasi faces between two and seven years in prison after admitting grand larceny and various other charges. The accountant was a trusted member of Tunie's team and also acted as her business manager for over ten years. However, it transpired that he had opened a credit card account in her name and written checks to himself without her permission. He used the cash to fund various movie and Broadway projects, including investing in the smash hit 'Legally Blonde' musical, as well as the TONY AWARD-winning 'Spring Awakening', starring Glee actress Lea Michele. Speaking in court this week, Cilibrasi said, "I stole over $1.4 million from Ms. Tunie Generet by converting funds from her (business accounts) to my personal use". Before joining the Law and Order cast, Tamara had starred in numerous Hollywood movies, including the 1997 action thriller 'The Peacemaker', with George Clooney and Nicole Kidman.
The actress, who is yet to comment on Cilibrasi's guilty plea, is married to the jazz singer GREGORY GENERET.
