Singer/actress SAMANTHA COLE regrets the way she snubbed former lover PETER COOK's engagement proposal because, looking back, she considers it cruel.
The 29-year-old romanced CHRISTIE BRINKLEY's disgraced husband before he wed the former supermodel and is now speaking out about their affair after Cook's latest flame, DIANA BIANCHI, revealed the love rat had been dating her behind his wife's back.
Cole claims she was dating Cook 10 years ago while he was romancing Brinkley, but had no idea he was cheating on her at the time.
And she feels sure Cook's proposal came as a last-ditch attempt to win back his teenage lover, who had moved to California in an effort to chase her acting dreams.
Cole says, "I didn't want to see the (engagement) ring because I felt like it was inappropriate. I said, 'Please don't show it to me, take it back, I'm not ready for that right now.'
"I did feel bad but I knew I was doing the right thing for myself at the time... I could have handled it a little differently, without being so cruel about it."
