The former child star, who is best known for her roles in TV shows Grange Hill and Tucker's Luck, received the devastating news earlier this year (15) and she underwent an operation to remove a tumour from her breast before opting for a mastectomy in August (15).

Herbert, 50, has now been given the all-clear by doctors.

She tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "I had a mammogram, an ultrasound and a biopsy, and they detected a medium growth tumour, which was six millimetres in size. I was shocked, but I had an inkling it was cancer because of my family's history... On August 24 I was told I no longer had cancer... I want to thank all the medical staff who looked after me, as well as my daughter Chloe Anderson and her friend Rachael Drummond, who is a nurse. They've supported me so much."
