It's time to pick sides in the battle between Abercrombie and T Swift's fans.
Taylor Swift’s dating history ends up as the punchline in many jokes these days, but when clothes retailer Abercrombie & Fitch tried to get in on the action, the company quickly felt the wrath of Taylor’s devoted fanbase. The shirt in question, bearing the slogan “# more boyfriends than t.s.” which is a bit obnoxious in and of itself, hit shelves in February, according to the company and went on clearance in March, according to a company rep, speaking to Buzzfeed. Whether that’s true, or it’s just a ploy on the part of the company to avoid blame, “swifties” everywhere have been mobilized, and are quickly forming an unstoppable force. The following video, comes from one self-described “huge swiftie” who called the company and is urging other followers of the singer to do the same.
Meanwhile, another fan started a petition on Change.org to get the shirt taken off shelves. The petition called for 200 people to stand against the shirt, which was “hurtful to Taylor Swift and Swifties everywhere!” As of today (Friday, June 21) the petition is yet to reach its goal, however it seems that the goal has been achieved regardless. So congratulations Swifties, we guess? The singer herself is yet to comment on the situation.
T Swift is yet to comment on the situation.
Not that she needs to, with fans leaping to her defense.
