Abba To Release First New Material In 17 Years
Abba's popularity has never really waned since they quietly disbanded in the 1980s. There has, however, been a resurgence in the popularity since the release of the screen version of Mamma Mia! The musical, soundtracked entirely by Abba songs, was released in 2008 and starred Pierce Brosnan and Meryl Streep. The deluxe edition of The Visitors is scheduled for release on April 23, 2012. When it was originally released in 1981, the album was not as commercially successful as many of its predecessors.
Abba formed in 1972, in Stockholm, Sweden. The line-up of the band consisted of Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn and Anni-Frid. The band gained international recognition when their performance of the track 'Waterloo' won the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest. In 2010, Abba were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, having sold over 200 million records worldwide.
