Abba Star Reuss Loses Legal Battle With Swedish Resort
The singer, better known as Frida, filed suit against the executives of the Yantorp Qigong facility, which specialises in Chinese medicine and meditation, in a bid to recoup a $6.9 million (£4.6 million) investment.
Reuss insisted the money was a loan to help fund the construction of a Buddhist temple at the site, while bosses at the centre claimed the star had made a very generous donation.
Her legal team asked for the resort to be pushed into bankruptcy to recoup the cash, but a judge at Malmo District Court in Malmo, Sweden ruled against her on Thursday (25Nov10).
Reuss and her partner Henry Smith, who was also a complainant in the suit, were ordered to pay legal costs amounting to approximately $22,500 (£15,000).
The pair's lawyers have vowed to continue fighting the case, according to Britain's Daily Telegraph.
