Troubled American football ace Aaron Hernandez has been denied bail for a second time after he was arrested and charged with murder.
The former New England Patriots tight end was taken into custody by Massachusetts police on Wednesday (26Jun13), 10 days after Odin Lloyd was found shot dead near the sportsman's home in North Attleborough.
Hernandez, who also stands accused of unlawful possession of firearms, returned to court on Thursday (27Jun13) for a bail review hearing, where his lawyer argued the star was a family man and would not be a flight risk if he was released from custody as he awaits trial.
However, the judge refused the request.
Prosecutors claim a fight between the two former pals at a Boston nightclub on 14 June (13) sparked the alleged killing three days later, when Hernandez was reportedly caught on surveillance cameras leaving his house with a weapon.
They are seeking the maximum sentence of life without parole if the suspect is convicted.
