A Very British Oscars - Will Adele and James Bond Fill This Year's Awards?

While British industrial exports have been in the decline over the past twenty years, our entertainment industries are bringing in the big bucks, and two of the biggest over the past few years have been tipped to be at this year's Oscars: James Bond and Adele.

The 85th Academy Awards will be airing on February 23rd, with nominations to be released this Thursday, January 10th. As the BBC reported yesterday, the James Bond franchise will be paid tribute to at this year's ceremony.  The awards' producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said: "We are very happy to include a special sequence on our show saluting the Bond films on their 50th birthday." As well as being included in a special sequence there have been growing rumours that the latest bond movie, Skyfall, will be nominated for a few awards, which it certainly deserves given the glowing reviews and because it has surpassed the $1b sales mark.

Continuing with the James Bond theme, Adele may also appear at the awards. She sang 'Skyfall', the official song for the film, of the same name. Having had a baby last year she has shied away from major public appearance for the past few months, but hopefully the draws of the Oscars could bring her out. She also has the highest selling album of 2012 in the USA, and has broken records left, right and centre. MTV has made some enquiries but has received neither denial nor confirmation of her appearance. If she does turn up it'll prove to be a very British Oscars.
