Whitney Funeral To Be Televised For Grieving Fans

Whitney Houston's funeral on Saturday (February 18, 2012) is expected to be made available on television for public viewing, according to Cnn. The funeral will be taking place at the New Jersey church near where the singer grew up - the gathering featuring 1500 invite-only guests including around a dozen celebrities and personalities. The funeral will be led by gospel singer and pastor Marvin L. Winans who also officiated at Houston's 1992 marriage to former husband Bobby Brown.

The news may disappoint some of her fans who had hoped to be able to attend a memorial of some sort, however speaking to Cnn, pastor Winans said that the family had asked for it to be that way so that it didn't resemble "a parade." Talking to Anderson Cooper, he said "I don't think knowing Cissy (Houston's mother) and the Houston family ... it was a matter of public or private as it was this is my daughter, this is my sister, this is my mother, this is my friend and we want to do this with dignity."

The family haven't uttered a word in public since the death of the 48 year-old last weekend, meaning large chunks of information have come from friends and associates of them; it's believed that Houston will have her final resting spot at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey. It's believed that Aretha Franklin, Houston's godmother, will sing at the funeral.

Being televised sure isn't keeping the funeral service very "private", wonder who will be paying for the media coverage...is this truly what Whitney would have wanted or is this what the family 'thinks" Whitney would want? This is why it is SO important for celebrities and people in general have a living will written up dictating exactly what arrangements are to be made so the family knows exactly what the person wants when thier time comes. RIP Whitney, you will be dearly missed. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
