6,000 Twilight Fans Treated To First 7 Minutes Of Final Film

Around 6,000 fans - many of whom had slept outside overnight - were treated to the first 7 minutes of the final Twilight movie Breaking Dawn: Part 2 at a panel presentation at Comic-Con on Thursday (July 12, 2012). Stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner turned out for the event, and fans got an unexpected surprise with the movie screening, reports the Associated Press.

The week began badly for the Twilight franchise, with one fan - who had camped out since Sunday - killed after being hit by a car while crossing a street near the San Diego Convention. On Thursday, the panel's moderator paid tribute to the 53-year-old - named Gisela Gagliardi - saying, "She will always live in our hearts and memories". The sadness quickly turned into frenzied screams as Stewart, Pattinson and Lautner entered the room, as well as Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, Peter Facinelli and Kellan Lutz. The crowds got even more excited when the first 7 minutes of the Breaking Dawn: Part 2 were screened, showing Bella (Stewart) adjusting to her new life as a vampire. Speaking from the stage, the actress said, "It felt so good to break her in, to see how fast the car goes. 'Twilight' vampires are very unique. They're not like all vampires... Everyone's powers are informed by how they were when they were human".

Novelist Stephenie Meyer - also on the panel - closed the event by screening a clip for her latest adapted novel, 'The Host', though fans were still reeling from their sneak peak at one of 2012's biggest movies. The film opens on November 16.
