50 Cent - 50 Cent Forced To Rethink Movie Title
50 Cent has been forced to rethink the title of his new movie due to a protest from Nigerian novelist Chinua Achebe.
The New York rapper is set to release new movie, 'Things Fall Apart' which is the story of an American football player who is diagnosed with cancer, however, the film shares the same name with Achebe's 1958 book which is considered one of Africa's greatest English language novels selling over 8 million copies worldwide. The movie, directed by Mario Van Peebles, premiered at the Miami Film Festival in March this year (2011) and has been completely financed by the rapper, speaking to The Guardian he said "It's a project that I wrote, produced and financed myself" but will now require a new name after the author refused a $1 million offer to allow the movie to hold onto the title, saying "The novel with the said title was initially produced in 1958, that is 17 years before [50 Cent] was born." The movie has now been renamed 'All Things Fall Apart' and stars veteran actor Ray Liotta.
Born in Queens, New York City 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson began rapping from an early age. However, it was not until he was discovered by established stars Eminem and Dr. DrE that his career began to take off and in 2003 he released his debut album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin' which sold 872,000 copies in its first week and made him into an overnight superstar. 50 Cent is also currently filming new movie Freelancers, the story of corrupt policemen in the NYPD which is due for release in 2012.
