300 Stars: 'War Epic Is Purely Entertainment'

Australian actor David Wenham has called on movie-goers to see gory war epic 300 with an open mind, because it is just entertainment.
The film - based on Frank Miller's graphic novel - is about the battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C., where a small Spartan army survived attacks from a massive Persian force for three days.
And though the ZACH SNYDER movie has received mixed reviews in the US, Wenham insists fans view it only as a means of entertainment.
Speaking at the movie's premiere, he says, "I don't really read the reviews; I haven't paid any attention to it. At the end of the day, it's entertainment based on a comic book so we didn't really think about that when we made it."
And his co-star Lena Headey, who plays QUEEN GORGO to Gerard Butler's KING LEONIDAS, admits she didn't think about how 300 would be received either.
She says, "For me it's a process because you never know what the outcome is gonna be and we just had fun doing it.
"And when you see it on screen it's just big and loud and it's great!"

Well, it finally took 300 for everyone to notice the great talent and greatness of Gerard Butler. Millions of fans, all over the world have known for years. Its just too bad nothing ever was shown in the USA until 300. He is a very talented actor, he puts his all into every role he does. He can cry on cue, he can become the character he is portraying so easily as a second skin to him. He does nothing half way he gives his all. From the sensitive Phantom of the Opera, to the caring Dear Frankie, the true stories like Attila, Beowolf and Grendel and now the great King Leo in 300. Why did it take so long for the world to know him as millions of us on his fan sites have. We tried to tell hundreds but they would not listen to us.Now go buy the Jury, Dear Frankie, Attila, Dracula 2000, The Phantom of the Opera, Reign of Fire, Timeline and more and watch this great man we all know and love as Gerard Butler.

Of course it is purely entertainment! Perhaps some are simply having a dull news day to be reading between the lines which are not there. I loved the movie, I also found the story content to be very profound . That 300 men would give up everything including their lives because of their convictions of living as a free people was inspiring. The devotion they had for one another, for their families and for their country was very poignant. This was not just a war story it was a love story in every sense of the word.
