A rap festival in Conakry, Guinea ended in tragedy on Wednesday (30Jul14) when over 30 people were trampled to death as music fans attempted to leave the beach event through a single exit.
Victims included children as young as 10, dressed in their bathing gear.
Guinea President Alpha Conde has declared a week of national mourning, while promising a full investigation. He also officially closed all of Conakry's beaches until further notice.
More than 700 people had gathered on the beach for the Instinct Killers concert, which was staged to mark the end of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan.
