3 Doors Down Help Katrina Victims

American rock band 3 DOORS DOWN have raised $800,000 (GBP400,000) for the victims of Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi. The band raised the money through their Better Life Foundation - which was initially set up to help underprivileged children - following the 2005 Gulf coast hurricane. Lead guitarist Matt Roberts, "It is the right thing to do, pretty much the only thing to do. "What we did was move our efforts to help hurricane relief. Everybody was impacted." Roberts revealed the money has been used to buy a fire truck and three police cars which suffered severe damage after the storm. He adds, "Now that everything is getting on the up and up on the coast, we are setting our focus back on the original goal which is underprivileged children. "Hopefully the storms will stay away and we won't have to divert."
