21 Has The Cards To Beat Treasure And Belgium To Number One
New releases Fool's Gold and In Bruges had been expected to mount a charge for the top after 21 debuted at number one.
But neither movie was able to overcome Robert Luketic's film, which tells of a set of MIT mathematical geniuses who use card-counting to take the house at a number of Las Vega casinos.
Starring Kevin Spacey, Jim Sturgess and Kate Bosworth, the film took more than £1 million in its second week to stay atop the UK charts.
Fool's Gold, reuniting Kate Hudson and Matthew Mcconaughey in an adventurous romantic comedy, took £975,498 to take second spot, while Martin McDonagh's In Bruges, featuring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as bored hitman stranded in the Belgian town, took £638,654 to take third.
Cop movie Street Kings, starring Keanu Reeves and Hugh Laurie, was the next highest new entry in fourth while Mike Leigh's new film Happy Go Lucky - for which Sally Hawkins won the best actress award at the Berlin film festival - entered the chart in ninth.
