Adele - 2012, A Year in the Life of Adele Adele: 21, Baby, Skyfall and Breaking Records
Adele hasn't even hit the age of 25, but in her 24 short years she's managed to garner more accolades than most people within a 100 year lifetime. Her stunning voice and simple lyrics have struck chords with unspecified demographics and she was even used for this year's newest Bond song, Skyfall. Now, her album 21 has become the fourth most sold album of all time.
As in the Independent reports, she's sold over 4,562,000 copies of 21, surpassing Oasis' What's the Story? Morning Glory. Although it still stands behind compilations from both Queen and Abba, as well as the only other original original studio album in the list, The Beatles' album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Plus, she's the first singer to ever sell more than 3 million copies of an album in the UK within a year, she won 12 Billboard Awards including Top Artist and Top Female Singer (both of which come down to sales) and Top Pop Album of the Year. At the Brit Awards this year she also bagged Best Female Artist and Mastercard Best Album of the Year. Plus, multiple Grammys and countless others that we simply don't have the time or space to congratulate her for.
Furthermore, even more exciting than a Grammy, she and partner Simon Konecki welcomed their first child together, a son who probably has all the world's musical expectations resting on his small shoulders. While no doubt Adele is proud of all her prizes, her son is probably what has brought her most joy.
