2 Chainz Arrested In New York For Brass Knuckles
2 Chainz, the American rapper and Kanye West prodigy, was arrested in LaGuardia Airport in New York on Tuesday (May 22, 2012) after cops said he was carrying brass knuckles in his carry bag.
According to TMZ.com, 2 Chainz - real name Tauheed Epps - was entering the Delta terminal in order to catch a flight to North Carolina when cops discovered what they thought were potentially dangerous knuckles. The rapper was subsequently taken into custody for misdemeanour possession of a criminal weapon, and is still understood to be with police in New York. A representative for 2 Chainz said his team are "handling the situation" and a source close to the rapper said the "brass knuckles" in question was merely a harmless 4-fingured ring. Formerly known as Tity Boi, the rapper was previously signed to Ludacris' record label 'Disturbing tha Peace'. After a move to Def Jam Recordings, he will release his first record as 2 Chainz 'Based on a T.R.U Story' on August 14, 2012. The album features collaborations with Kanye West, Rick Ross, Chris Brown, Drake and Lil Wayne.
The lead single from the album 'No Lie', premiered on May 1, 2012 and was released on iTunes a week later.
