Over 1000 guests attended the wedding including Jill's 16 siblings and her three nieces and nephews. The ceremony was held at the Cross Church is the bride's hometown of Springdale, Arkansas.
The couple met for the first time in May of this year after they had video chatted for three months. Although Derick is originally from the US he has travelled widely and was living in Nepal at the time he met Jill. Jill and her father Jim Bob had flown out deliberately so she could finally meet the man she suspected would be her future husband.
The couple decided to save their first kiss for their wedding day although they were permitted to hold hands when they became engaged. They did seal their wedding voews with a kiss though! The family practise chaperoned courtship where couples abstain from any physical contact before their marriage. Holding hands was somewhat risqué but Jill and Derek decided they were ready to take that step when they became engaged.
At the beginning of their relationship, the newly formed couple spoke to People and explained why they wanted to wait. Jill explained: "I think it is safer and makes it more special to wait to kiss until your wedding day. To save the physical side of your marriage for your wedding day and not going further than you should, we want to have no regrets."
Congratulations to Jill and Derick on their marriage and first kiss.
